Joseph Magee interviewed at O'Henry Studios
Since filming O'Henry has sadly closed.
"Give me great mics - new or old - audio workstations, great acoustics but, most of all, real, live musicians and I'll make great recordings" says Joseph Magee.
Joseph Magee has numerous credits with a very wide range of musical styles; jazz, classical, rock, pop, latin and world music in addition to numerous recording, mixing and production credits for feature films - not forgetting his other work as a consultant for design projects for Disney Concert Hall and The Colburn School of Performing Arts.
You may also have seen Joseph at the Hollywood Bowl where he mixes about 90% of all live shows!
More recently Joseph has been involved with several Disney Films including 'Fantasia 2000' with James Levine (Chicago Symphony Orchestra), 'Coyote Ugly' and 'High Fidelity' with John Cussack. He worked with Trevor Horn (see our related Trevor Horn feature) and Michael Mann recently on a Sony Pictures film, 'Ali'. Most recently Joseph has been working on another Disney film, 'The country bears' with Glyn Johns and John Hiatt, which is where we caught up with him to interview for the website.
